History of the High Heel (infographic)

If you’re into fashion, you know the high heel has been a staple in women’s wardrobes for many moons. Together with the training bra and that first tube of bright pink lipstick, they are a rite of passage into womanhood. The fact that one night on the town can produce blisters that last for weeks doesn’t faze a fashionista. They make heads turn. They make gams look fantastic. They are the ultimate fashion accessory.

But the glamorous reputation that the high heel holds today has not always been around. From the tombs of ancient Egypt to the catwalk, high-heels have a “tall” history that has been centuries in the making.
